The best superhero in a skirt...

...is Magnus, Robot Fighter, without a doubt.  Oh, you were thinking Miss Martian, maybe?  Or Supergirl?  Nope.  It's this guy.  Yep, that's right, I said "guy."

Eat your heart out, Hal Jordan.

Well, I didn't say "guy," I typed it.  But enough of that.

Don't let the skirt fool you.  If you're an evil robot overlord, you better watch yourself, or you'll get torn in two.

It's called a tunic, dammit!!!  How many times do I have to tell you people that?!  I will take out my agression on this helpless Pol-Rob.  RAWRRGGH!!!

Or cleaved down the middle like warm butter...

Or you'll get your robot head karate-chopped off.

Bringing sexy back, one lethal backhand at a time.

So, lesson learned: never get on the wrong side of a man who wears a skirt.

Agreed. His Valiant series is great. Cut from a similar cloth to Adam Strange.

Magnus is a character I want to like more than I do, very much in the vein of Adam Strange. I try his book at each relaunch, but no one can seem to take the series further than the basic appeal of a man dressed like a cage dancer karate chopping C-3P0, and often they bury even that simple pleasure in costume redesigns and dystopia.

It's not just the skirt either, although he does manage to wear it with considerable verve. It's the those kicky white go-go boots that really set off the whole ensemble.

That's why I like him, m.c.! I like me some sci-fi comic heroes. :)

Did you like the original series, Frank? I'm not liking the current re-boot much at all. Especially since they changed his tunic to shorts. SACRILEGE. BTW, Living Between Wednesdays did a hilarious send-up of Magnus.

They changed the boots to black one, Sally!! Why do artists keep messing with things that work?!
